MEET MY STUDENT

PETRILLO’S KARATE CAMPUS
MEET MY STUDENT

Meet Levi Hull - 1st Gup Red Belt

Levi is an 11 year old student here at PKC, he trains at our Loyalhanna location. Levi is a 1st Gup Red Belt and is training for his Poom Belt test. Levi is a straight A student, loves STEM, this year he will be part of the PGA junior league golf team, and is also trying out volleyball. Levi has many attributes. He is kind, creative, funny and genuine, which are all eagerly shown on the training floor. This makes it even more special when you find out that his father is stationed over seas in South Korea. His father has been deployed three times since Levi has been born. I get the privilege to watch Levi grow into a wonderful Martial Artist, and to thank his father for his service.

Levi’s Favorites:
Kick - Front Kick
Hand Technique - Side Punch
Form - Passai Dai

Favorite thing about Martial Arts - Sparring

Levi has come a long way in his Martial Arts career. He has developed into an amazing student. It’s wonderful how he continues to grow mentally and physically. Levi’s ability to build things is amazing, he built himself a Bo Staff out of legos. When he brought it into class to show me, I thought it was pretty cool. I see Levi using his Martial Arts career as inspiration to further his ability to build new things in his future. As our students grow older, they will use their creativity for many different opportunities like higher education, jobs, and clubs. When applying for those activities, having Martial Arts on your resume, can actually put you at the top of the list. They know you are someone who never quits and pushes yourself as hard as you can to finish what you started. Watching Levi on the training floor makes me so proud of his accomplishments in his young life. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. All our instructors agree, having Levi in our Loyalhanna school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 100 Station St. Loyalhanna PA 15661 - 724-516-9364 — www.petrilloskaratecampus.com

MEET MY STUDENT
Meet Tory Smith - 1st Degree Black Belt

Tory is an 10 year old student here at PKC, he trains at our Loyalhanna location. Tory is a 1st Degree Black Belt and is training for his 2nd Degree Black Belt test. Tory has grown into a wonderful Martial Artist. He is a straight A student and in the gifted program at his grade school. Tory loves going to tournaments to compete. With his favorite thing about Martial Arts being sparring, he is waiting patiently for the tournaments to begin again. Competition is great way for a student to learn how to win and lose, you will do both in your Martial Arts career. If you lose, you now have a goal to compete again and win.

Tory’s Favorites:
Kick - Round Kick
Hand Technique - Claw
Form - Passai Dai
Favorite thing about Martial Arts - Sparring

Tory has come a long way in his Martial Arts career. He has developed into an amazing student. It’s wonderful how he continues to grow mentally and physically. Tory puts 100% into all his techniques when he is sparring. His determination on the training floor was one of the things I noticed most when he decided to join us here at PKC. He arrived as a 2nd Gup Red Belt. At Petrillo’s Karate Campus, we recognize as a student first starting out with us, you may have trained at another location before joining PKC. Some schools may not be a good fit for your child, or the student just needs a break, when they decide to return to Martial Arts, the school they attended may have closed, this is not the child’s fault. We recognize that all children have different ways of learning the same technique. Some learn better visually, some learn better verbally, some it takes both ways to learn. Some are right handed, some left handed, some students can learn a technique instantly, some it takes months. As an instructor it’s our job to figure out how each child processes the instruction on the training floor, and teach them. It’s not easy transitioning from one school to another, Tory has done a wonderful job at it, he has shown us that any student who wants to train will put their heart into it. Watching Tory on the training floor makes me so proud of his accomplishments in his young life. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. All our instructors agree, having Tory in our Loyalhanna school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 100 Station St. Loyalhanna PA 15661 - 724-516-9364 — www.petrilloskaratecampus.com

Meet Elysia Mink - Red Belt 1 stripe 2nd Gup

Elysia is an 11 year old student here at PKC, she trains at our Delmont & Loyalhanna locations. Elysia is a Red Belt with 1 stripe (2nd Gup) and is training for her 2nd stripe test coming up at the end of February. Elysia has grown into a wonderful Martial Artist. Like Elysia, a few of our students in our schools train at both of our locations. This is one of the wonderful parts of our karate schools, if you miss a class, you can attend a class at our other location. If you want to double up on classes, you can attend a class at one location, then a class at the other location. This helps if students need extra training time or if they are learning to be an instructor, like Elysia. I can trust her to teach any of the students on the training floor that is a younger rank, she is one of our top students at PKC.

Elysia’s Favorites:
Kick - Jump Front Kick
Hand Technique - Double High Block
Form - Pyung Oh Dan
Favorite thing about Martial Arts - Meeting new people and doing forms.

Elysia has come a long way in her Martial Arts career. She has developed into an amazing student. It’s wonderful how she continues to grow mentally and physically. When Elysia began at PKC, she was a perfectionist, someone who would get upset if she didn’t do a technique correct. At Petrillo’s Karate Campus, we recognize as a student first starting out, you will make many mistakes, which is why we try to understand all childrens imperfections and support students just like Elysia to view their mistakes as learning experiences. We all have something we need to work through, and Elysia is a fine example of how to work hard each class to be the best person/student she can be. Now, on the training floor Elysia can do anything and give her best, and she is happy. I can give Elysia a student with the same characteristics as her, and she helps them so much, which is why meeting new people is one of her favorite things. We encourage our students to work through their mistakes, when they do, they grow into a wonderful student who not only cares about their actions, but also care about others. Watching Elysia on the training floor makes me so proud of her accomplishments in her young life. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. All our instructors agree, having Elysia in our Delmont & Loyalhanna school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 39 E. Pittsburgh St. Delmont PA 15626 & 100 Station St. Loyalhanna PA 15661 - 724-516-9364 — www.petrilloskaratecampus.com

I know I can count on Dylan to push himself to learn his techniques and forms, just so he can help his fellow students. I have watched Dylan help a lower rank so intensely and thoughtfully, where he is giving them the power and confidence they needed to help them overcome their fear of learning a new form. Knowing I can have Dylan help another student with his confidence makes my job as an instructor easier, I say this with much pride. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. All our instructors agree, having Dylan in our Loyalhanna school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 100 Station St. Loyalhanna PA 15661 - 724-516-9364 — www.petrilloskaratecampus.com
