MEET MY STUDENT
Meet Evan Grace - 5th Gup Green Belt
Evan is a student here at PKC, he trains at our Delmont location. Evan is a 5th Gup Green Belt and is training for his 4th Gup green Belt test. Evan started training here at PKC at 4.5 years old. Now at age 6 he also likes baseball, Minecraft, swimming, hanging out with his sister, and working hard to get good grades in his kindergarten class. When Even attended one of the school district’s talent shows that had several of our students in it, doing their techniques and breaking boards, this is when he decided he wanted to try Martial Arts.
Evan’s Favorites:
Kick - Front Kick
Hand Technique - High Punch
Form -Pyung Sa Dan
Favorite thing about Martial Arts - Sparring
Evan has come a long way in his Martial Arts career. He has developed into an amazing student. It’s wonderful how he continues to grow mentally and physically. Evan’s parents have noticed his confidence, discipline, and attention have improved since he started at PKC. When Evan started Martial Arts, he was one of our students that had a hard time standing still. During the last two months of training, Evan’s ability to remain still during instruction has increased immensely. Every class he demonstrates how to really focus that moving energy into his techniques and Martial Arts skills, which have gotten stronger and more on point. We have multiple students that start out not being able to keep still like Evan. With commitment and hard work from parents, student, and instructors, our students can achieve the benefits of Martial Arts in many capacities. These benefits can include focus, discipline, and attention span to name a few. These are the reasons Martial Arts is great for every child. Usually, when someone expresses a concern about their child learning how to fight, they are not aware of the full, well-rounded benefits of Martial Arts. It’s important our whole family at PKC understand that most children are in Martial Arts for all of these benefits, not just learning how to fight. When you can watch someone take everything they have trained hard for and focus that energy into their performance, like Evan did, it reminds you of the beauty of training. Seeing Evan now, he flows on the training floor, and you can see the pride in his eyes as he trains. Watching Evan on the training floor makes me so proud of his accomplishments in his young life. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. All our instructors agree, having Evan in our Delmont school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 100 Station St. Loyalhanna PA 15661 - 724-516-9364 — www.petrilloskaratecampus.com

MEET MY STUDENT
Meet Anthony Woodward - 3rd Gup Red Belt
Anthony is an 8 year old student here at PKC, he trains at our Delmont location. Anthony is a 3rd Gup Red Belt and is training for his 2nd Gup Red Belt test. Anthony is a straight A student and has recently tested for the gifted program. Anthony also has other interests, such as dirt bikes and trains, especially the antique Lionel trains.
Anthony’s Favorites:
Kick - Round Kick
Hand Technique - Center Soo Do Block
Form -Pyung OH Dan
Favorite thing about Martial Arts - Teaches you things you can use your whole life.
Anthony has come a long way in his Martial Arts career. He has developed into an amazing student. It’s wonderful how he continues to grow mentally and physically. Anthony has grown from a very curious white belt, into a very strong and curious red belt. As he progresses higher in rank, his curiosity about techniques continues to grow. Anthony has questions in almost every class like where he would use a technique and why he would use a certain technique. His inquisitive nature keeps me on my toes, which I like. As instructors, we here at PKC need to know why a technique would be used and how it would be used. I can see Anthony using his Martial Arts career as an inspiration to others, I watch the other students as they listen to his questions, and they are soaking up the knowledge, as well as he. He has the ability to take this knowledge and use it in his future, to become an instructor at his own karate school, an engineer, a conductor of a train, the possibilities are endless. As Anthony grows, he knows he is someone who never quits and pushes himself as hard as he can, with his mind, body and spirit. Watching Anthony on the training floor makes me so proud of his accomplishments in his young life. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. All our instructors agree, having Anthony in our Delmont school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 39 Pittsburgh St. Delmont PA 15626

Meet Elysia Mink - Red Belt 1 stripe 2nd Gup
Elysia is an 11 year old student here at PKC, she trains at our Delmont & Loyalhanna locations. Elysia is a Red Belt with 1 stripe (2nd Gup) and is training for her 2nd stripe test coming up at the end of February. Elysia has grown into a wonderful Martial Artist. Like Elysia, a few of our students in our schools train at both of our locations. This is one of the wonderful parts of our karate schools, if you miss a class, you can attend a class at our other location. If you want to double up on classes, you can attend a class at one location, then a class at the other location. This helps if students need extra training time or if they are learning to be an instructor, like Elysia. I can trust her to teach any of the students on the training floor that is a younger rank, she is one of our top students at PKC.
Elysia’s Favorites:
Kick - Jump Front Kick
Hand Technique - Double High Block
Form - Pyung Oh Dan
Favorite thing about Martial Arts - Meeting new people and doing forms.
Elysia has come a long way in her Martial Arts career. She has developed into an amazing student. It’s wonderful how she continues to grow mentally and physically. When Elysia began at PKC, she was a perfectionist, someone who would get upset if she didn’t do a technique correct. At Petrillo’s Karate Campus, we recognize as a student first starting out, you will make many mistakes, which is why we try to understand all childrens imperfections and support students just like Elysia to view their mistakes as learning experiences. We all have something we need to work through, and Elysia is a fine example of how to work hard each class to be the best person/student she can be. Now, on the training floor Elysia can do anything and give her best, and she is happy. I can give Elysia a student with the same characteristics as her, and she helps them so much, which is why meeting new people is one of her favorite things. We encourage our students to work through their mistakes, when they do, they grow into a wonderful student who not only cares about their actions, but also care about others. Watching Elysia on the training floor makes me so proud of her accomplishments in her young life. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. At Petrillo’s Karate Campus, we encourage our students to help each other on the training floor. I know I can count on Dylan to push himself to learn his techniques and forms, just so he can help his fellow students. I have watched Dylan help a lower rank so intensely and thoughtfully, where he is giving them the power and confidence they needed to help them overcome their fear of learning a new form. Knowing I can have Dylan help another student with his confidence makes my job as an instructor easier, I say this with much pride. Because we, here at PKC encourage and believe you can do anything you want. Our goal is to help you make that happen with respect for yourself and others. Peyton has come a long way in her Martial Arts career. She has developed into an amazing student, instructor and person all around. Being more confident, able to speak up when needed, also showing the respect for herself and others. All our instructors agree, having Peyton in our Loyalhanna school has made our PKC family better, and one of the joys you will find as you stop by and visit us at 100 Station St. Loyalhanna PA 15661
Peyton is 10 years old, she has been with PKC since she was 4 years old. Peyton started out as one of our Young Warriors, a class for pre school children, ages 3-5 years. Now that Peyton is a Black Belt, she is training for her 2nd Degree Black Belt, along with learning how to teach. She is one of our students that has graduated as a Jr Instructor with our Young Warriors.
